I have a strong belief in the importance of the stewardship of both the land and our relationships. A huge inspiration for my artistic practice stems from the people I have met through finding queer community in the outdoors and the beauty in the species, like the California Condor and Red Wolf, that we are taking for granted. Trying to capture the need to cling onto things that are slipping away or not guaranteed to return. Additionally, being a queer kid from the Midwest has made me realize that having safe outlets for queerness to be expressed has always been something I’ve found myself chasing and striving to provide for others.
My work consists mainly of oil paint and relief prints, though increasingly more fine metal work has made its way into my practice. The texture, smell, and luminosity of oil paint excites my senses and forces my brain to be in the mood to create.
